All Nations Cup Festival 2007

The All Nations Cup Festival, a World Cup-style football tournament celebrated its second year in Glasgow (Nethercraigs Sports Complex) in August this year (2007). This year the committee decide to include a cultural festival in conjunction with the football competition.
Universal FC, Afroscots United, Glasgow Ansar, Cameroonian Association, Greater Pollok Integration Network, & The African & Caribbean Network organised several additions to the festival that made the show entertaining and a great attraction for families. Eleven teams participated in the All Nation Cup Festival, among others; Afroscots, Chinese FL, Glasgow Ansar, Prostar Dream Team, Cameroon, Pronations, Unreal Madrid, Khurdistan.
The Opening day of The All Nations Cup Festival, August 4th started off with a line-up of women in their traditional wear from Cameroon, China, Jamaica, Khurdistan, Pakistan, Scotland leading out the teams in an opening ceremony. A great line-up of local musicians, dancers and performers kept the crowd entertained throughout the whole festival that lasted two days.
Guests included among others representatives from Celtic, Rangers, Partick Thistle, Clyde and Queens Park football clubs.
Penalty shoot out decider
It was a very successful event and Universal FC were crowned champions of the tournament after defeating Unreal Madrid in a penalty shoot out (4-2) after a goalless draw. Ibby, UFC goalkeeper was the hero after saving two penalties while Raphael kept his cool to convert the last penalty to lift the well-deserved trophy.
Overall UFC played excellent football throughot the tournament and won all their games. James McGall was the top goal scorer while Steven Odunewu aka Oday was voted man of the match by the match officials.
Marvin Andrews (Raith Rovers) and the Superintendent of Greater Pollok were the guests who presented trophies and medals.
